Heritage Golf Club Will Host Patriot Golf Day 2014

The Heritage Golf Club will join facilities across the country in hosting Patriot Golf Day events for the eighth year during Labor Day Weekend, August 29 – September 1. Golfers will be asked to add $ 1 to their green fee as a donation to Folds of Honor.

Patriot Golf Day is the flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides postsecondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving our great nation. The Patriot Golf Day campaign is jointly supported by The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association

We honor and support the families of our fallen soldiers, says Andy Ammons, president of Ammons Development, Heritage developer. This is an opportunity for the Heritage Golf Club team and members to come together and tangibly support them.

The inaugural Patriot Golf Day in 2007 was started by Major Dan Rooney, Founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, F-16 Pilot, PGA Professional and USGA member. On Labor Day 2007, Rooney asked golfers to add $ 1 to their greens fees. His request resulted in donations of more than $ 1.1 million from more than 3,200 golf facilities. In the last seven years, golfers nationwide have been instrumental in raising donations through Patriot Golf Day events resulting in over 5,500 scholarships in all 50 states and 41 PGA sections.

There are more than one million dependents of fallen and wounded military service men and women from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts alone and 87 percent do not qualify for federal education assistance (as of Jan. 1, 2012). Family House and Fifth Third Bank to Host the 31st Annual Family House Polo Match

Since its inception in 1983, Family House has provided affordable and convenient accommodations for patients and their families who are receiving medical treatment at Pittsburgh-area hospitals. Each year more than 14,000 families from all over the country and even the world, stay at Family Houses four locations in the Oakland-Shadyside area.

Family House, the nations largest healthcare hospitality house, and Fifth Third Bank are hosting the 31st annual Family House Polo Match at Hartwood Acres on Saturday September 6th.

The festivities begin at 11 a.m. with tailgating, a silent auction and childrens activities. At noon, the Howard Hanna Real Estate Services Virginia International Polo Club and their competitor, the #1 Cochran Potomac Polo Club, warm up and demonstrate polo shots for those new to the sport. Each year this Pittsburgh tradition attracts more than 2,000 spectators. Family House Polo is one of the most successful polo fundraisers in the world, raising more than $ 7 million in the events 30-year history.
