Individual Artists of Oklahoma Names Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Individual Artists of Oklahoma is pleased to announce that Carie Antosek Benton has been named Executive Director. Ms. Benton will lead the organization in its efforts to sustain and encourage emerging and established artists in the state of Oklahoma. Benton is a seasoned executive who has provided leadership for a number of organizations, and advocacy for nonprofit organizations, for more than fifteen years.

Board President Julie Oseland said, “The Board of Directors is thrilled to have Carie as our new Executive Director. Her background in business development, marketing and public relations will make her an effective leader for IAO. She is a passionate advocate for the arts and artists in Oklahoma, who will inspire the individuals and organizations with whom we partner.”

Before joining IAO, Benton served as the Executive Director of the State Association for Veteran Empowerment (SAVE OK Vets). In addition, she served as the Chief Operating Officer of a nationwide real estate marketing firm for nearly a decade. Benton adds, I am extremely excited about joining Individual Artists of Oklahoma. I look forward to adding to, and improving our programing, as well as creating additional member benefits to support and expose the work of emerging artists in Oklahoma.

Benton received her undergraduate degree from Hodges University and completed her graduate degree at University of Oklahoma. She is a board member of the Family Builders in Oklahoma City and an active Junior League member. Benton received the Journal Records Achievers Under 40 Award this year for her work with SAVE OK Vets.

Walmart and Sams Club associates, customers and members wrapped up a six-week register campaign from May 1 June 13 to raise funds for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals, a nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for 170 childrens hospitals across North America.

By inviting customers and members to Put Their Money Where The Miracles Are at the register, Walmart and Sams Club associates surpassed their goal of raising more than $ 40 million, mostly one dollar at a time from customers and associates alike. Sam’s Club hit a record-breaking fundraising year, with customers and associates contributing more than $ 5 million to that total.

The money we raise saves lives. Over the course of our six-week campaign, we collectively raised more than $ 40 million, said Celia Swanson, senior vice president of Talent Development at Walmart. What we have accomplished year over year through our Walmart, Sams Club and Logistics campaigns shows that CMN Hospitals fundraising matters and makes a huge impact in our local communities.

Since 1987, Walmart and Sams Club have raised more than $ 740 million for sick and injured kids. Funds are used by each hospital where they are needed most, helping to provide charitable care, therapy programs and fund specialized, life-saving treatment and equipment.

Walmart and Sams Club associates, customers and members play a vital role in supporting their community by giving sick and injured kids the necessary care they need to live better, said John Lauck, president and CEO of Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals. EB-5 Visa Helps Canadian Investors Thrive in Growing U.S. Economy

Taking advantage of a burgeoning marketplace and a flourishing economy, especially in energy-rich states, many Canadian investors are choosing to take advantage of the EB-5 Visa program.

Foreigners with at least $ 500,000 capital wishing to pursue permanent residency in the United States may apply for an EB-5 Visa. The program, created by Congress, is a way to create more jobs and stimulate the economy. This program requires that foreigners invest at least $ 500,000 and create 10 full time jobs for U.S. employees within two years. The standard investment for an EB-5 visa is $ 1,000,000 or $ 500,000 if the candidates invest in rural areas or targeted employment areas. When investing in commercial real estate, such as an apartment building, which doesnt create at least 10 jobs, the investor has the option of obtaining an E-2 Visa.

The affordable real estate market in the southwest combined with a lack of red tape to start a new corporation has really boosted the number of Canadians investing in the U.S.., explained Irena Juras of the Juras Law Firm.

Demand among foreign investors is increasing, though there is a limit of 10,000 visas issued per year including spouses and dependents. Of the 10,000 EB-5 visas which are available annually, 3,000 of the visas are reserved for investors of Regional Centers. Regional Centers are economic units that promote job creation and investment in a specific region of the U.S.
